Yet
again the best organised race in the best location
within the whole of the UK |

Just
Brilliant
In full: I always worry when I run a race one year and
love it, that when I go back the next year, it's not as
good as I remember. Not so with this one - fabulous from
start to finish. |
|
|
|
»
The
trip across the dunes was tough, but the breathtaking
scenery once you got out there really took your mind off
your legs. |
|
|
|
»
I've
run lots of races where you pass locals who don't have a
clue what's going on - not so in Campbeltown where
everyone had a cheer and a "well done" for the runners.
|
|
»
Another one to add to the Permanent Fixtures list on my
racing calendar! |

We
travelled from West yorkshire for this race and were not
disappointed. Well worth the trip, everyone should do
this race once. The marshalls and organisation were
brilliant. The pipe band at the start was a great touch.
It was if the whole of the town and given it their full
support. Well done!!!!!! |

Coolest ever medal (pottery) topped off with some
excellent post race food then off to the Ceilidh |

Second
time I've run it. Hugely enjoyable once again and I
broke my pb by over 4 mins. Off-road/Beach section tough
but otherwise undulating roads. Fantastic party
atmosphere at finish and organisers do a fabulous job

Great
atmosphere, great scenery, one of my all time favourites
In full: Was definately worth travelling all the way up
from Birmingham for !! The atmosphere and organisation
where of the best I have ever known and the
encouragement from the crowd kept me going even when my
legs didnt want to. Will be back next year! |
|
|
|

What
an alternative half marathon! I had only ever done city
half's before and this was something really different. I
really enjoyed (most of) it but found the cross country
section really tough. Once on the beach it was fab, but
getting on to and off of the beach was horrible and
ultimately I suffered for setting of a bit to quickly.
Organisation was 1st class. |

Like
many, I read the RW reviews last year and thought this
would be nice to do. Little did I realise just what a
blast it was! Scenery, friendliness, organisation all
first rate - a credit to the committee, the town and to
running in general. Particularly nice that the asked the
crowd to stay and cheer the last few runners. A real
credit. Make the trip - it's worth it! |

2nd
year of doing race, would definately do it again, well
worth the travel. well organised and very friendly.
marshalls were fantastic and kept spirits high |

Great
atmosphere, great views, well organised, well worth
trying.
In full: I did the 10K. Walked it last year but have
lost weight and jogged it. Knocked off 16mins on last
years time. Great crowd, great support. As a beginning
runner of 56 I want to thank all concerned for a great
day. It has started me on the path to enjoying running.
Something I thought I would hate doing. |

This
in an EVENT as much as a race, a classic in my view,
funky medal too. |
|
|
|
»
Fantastic event, twin 10K & half marathon great idea
with a mass start of both - did not realise 1/2 marathon
runners go so fast from the start. |
|
|
|
»
10K
for me, course great with the 2 loop backs - allowing
masses of encouragement from fellow friends and runners.
Marshalling and race organisation superb -coupled with
the genuine warmth and support of the wee toon folk!

10K
course very quick smashed my PB with a sub 39 run.

Event
organisers have a good course (10k). A couple of cut
backs ensures that you can encourage friends and
competitors. Post race hospitality tent superb with hot
drinks sandwiches and lovely danish pastries (included
in price). Competitors supporters and local crowd hung
around for 3 hours until the very last half marathon
runner came home and what a cheer he got. I can't
enthuse about this event enough. The Saw Doctors played
in the local hall on the friday, I believe free minibus
trips were offered on saturday to the Mull of Kintyre, a
pasta party on the saturday evening, race on sunday
followed by a ceilidh on the sunday night. So if you
fancy a weekend away in 2008 get your application in
early. The event will be massively over subscribed as
this years was. |

Just
perfect, everything I'd hoped for and more. I'll
definitely be back! |

Inspirational!
In full: I did this last year - it was my first half
marathon then - it was wonderful in every respect. This
year it was a all a bit bigger and better except the
course which could notn be surpassed. The weekend was a
real package - the Saw Doctors, pre-race Pasta, a
wonderful race and a Ceilidh that we will remember
forever. Well done to Campbelltown |

Absolutely wonderful
In full: My first race ever! I now have a very high
benchmark for future runs. Great atmosphere and very
friendly. The off road bit was a challenge, but well
worth it for the beach views. I only wish I could have
stayed for more of the entertaiment. |

One of
the best races around (if not THEE best)!!
In full: So glad I chose this as my first half marathon,
what a wonderfully scenic route, and the weather was on
our side! I did the 10K last year and was extremely
impressed by the fantastic organization, marshalls, and
the warm welcome from the locals...and it was even
better this year! Both runners and spectators are realy
well lookeed after, and the massage was great! Truly one
of my favourite events, will be back next year. |

Fantastic - brilliant organisation, very supportive run,
beautiful
In full: My first half marathon, and the other runners
were very cheery and supportive, as were the organisers
(from the entry stage to the ceilidh), not to mention
the locals and the supporters. The route was good,
slightly up on the first half, interesting on the way to
the beach and back, and the beach itself was beautiful
and fine for running. The latter stages were slightly
down - just the way you want it! All in all an
exceptional run and worth the journey. We went en
famille and had a good weekend - lucky with the weather,
which helped. |

local community make the race a wee bit special |

Very
well organised, great atmosphere, superb refreshments
afterwards!
In full: Second year at this race, 1st time on 1/2
marathon route which was beautiful especially the
section along the beach even if it was a tough section.
Hope to join in with pre-race pasta party and post-race
ceilidh next year |
|
|

»
Fantastic!!
In full: I have just had the best weekend at this event.
I travelled up with 12 other girls and the whole event
from the pasta party to the ceilidh was great. The post
race sandwiches and danish pastry were great, the bands
at the ceilidh were amazing - oh and the 10k race was
great too!! Well done to the organisers - you should all
be very proud of yourselvesxx |

Magnificent MOK again
In full: brillliant day again - great organisation and
the weather was stunning given we had all thought it
would be a howling wet gale.Registration went like
clockwork - no queues - enough toilets. Great support
throughout from teh marshalls and locals cheering
everyone on. Really friendly race even for us snails
near the back.Difficult to do a PB but i shaved 8
minutes off last years debacle. The route down to the
beach was difficult with the wind providing a very
effective non-surgical facelift. However, will probably
do this again next year - thanks to all for a superb day
again. |

Thanks
to all the organisers and marshals, etc for a great
event held today - even the weather cleared up in time
for the start of the race. It's my first 10k race and
has whetted my appetite for more - managed 58mins 10
secs so delighted to break my 1 hour target time. Hope
to see you again next year! |
|
|
|
»
Really
enjoyed the event - the organisation was superb -
refreshments afterwards were excellent and everyone,
both competitors and runners were cheery and good fun.
Hope you decide to do the same next year as I'll
certainly be signing up for it again. |

Just
wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed today's event
- not just the run itself but the whole event. All the
marshals were great and very encouraging to all the
runners - they deserve medals themselves. I haven't been
running that long - maybe 4 years - but at any of the
races I have been to I have never seen such a fantastic
spread afterwards! |

Two
friends of ours came down to compete and I met up with
lots of old friends. The courses were excellent. The
half marathon was quite challenging with lots of
excellent sections. I really appreciated all the time
put in by marshals and other helpers. |

Took part
in event on Sunday. Really enjoyed it in spite of
travelling down from Perth that morning. It was a great
success. Congratulations to you all. The local community
should be also congratulated on the wonderful reception
that they gave us all. The atmosphere was like a mini
London Marathon event! Well done! and all the best for
the future. |

The race
has inspired a lot more people to want to do it next
year. |
|
|
|
»
Extremely
well organised and managed, and the atmosphere was
brilliant. Congratulations to everyone involved. You
even managed to get the weather right. I could never go
so far as to say I “enjoy” doing a half marathon, but it
was worth the pain for the run along the beach alone. I
hope you’ll continue to run the event, it deserves to be
a great success. We’d definitely come back. |

The best
£9.00 I'm ever likely to spend and will be back next

Please
could you pass on to all your wonderful volunteers and
marshals etc many big heartfelt congratulations for a
fantastically organised event yesterday. My friends and
I ran the 10k and were so impressed with the behind the
scenes organisation from the info sent out prior to the
race to the fantastic spread put on afterwards, never
before have we been given sandwiches let alone a pastry!
So, a big thanks to your sponsors too. The medals are
going to be so treasured (after all that is what we all
do it for!!) all over the west coast, as are the T
shirts, they are that bit different from any I have had
before. The cheerfulness and support from your marshals
was such a help and as for being cheered home towards
the finish line by name as it was relayed in…that was a
great idea and helps you gain those precious few seconds
as the crowd pulls you along. You even managed to
arrange for the skies to clear in those last few
precious decision making minutes after the briefing
(jacket on of jacket off?) Truly impressive….Well done
to all concerned and be prepared for an even bigger
field next year as your fame grows. Thank you |
|
|
|
»
Just
wanted to thank you for organising a superb race
yesterday - everything from start to finish was totally
brilliant. The food, refreshments and availability of a
massage at the end without having to queue for 2 hours
was also fantastic. We will be back next year if there
are plans to have another one….Once again thanks - great
day, great route and venue |
|
|
|
»
I just
wanted to send you a quick e-mail to thank you the race
committee, marshals and the town for laying on a
wonderful event yesterday. |

Everything
was perfect I got a pb (not hard when it was only my
second half marathon) I even got a suntan. The cross
country and beach bit were fantastic if hard and windy.
The medals are amazing and the spread after the race
were just what we needed. I hope the event will happen
next year I am sure you will have at least two runners.

I
had to write, I managed to persuade myself to run the
1/2 marathon on sunday, the distance and family
commitments put me off, but I’ve been running for over
20 years and that was the most organised, great band,
most hospitable, best goody bag, best ever refreshments,
wonderful to have the 10 k and 1/2 marathon take off
together and to also encourage walkers!! and I’ve
deliberately left the best to last the phenomenal
scenery running along the beach at Machrihanish, thank
you to all the community, the organisers and marshals,
my time was dreadful but I had a fantastic day and as
long as my legs are beneath me, I’ll be back next year
with company, |

The
weather, the atmosphere, the courses, marshalling and
post race hospitality were second to none. The crowd who
turned out were supportive and enthusiastic and many
stayed right to the end and that is a feat to keep their
attention. I have heard people say that they are going
to take part next year - the demand is there! The
community spirit is very evident in the wee toon
particularly when the course is managed by an army of
marshals. I'm sitting here typing with my medal on over
my mokrun t shirt still chuffed to bits. My wee boy took
the medal to school today to show everyone at news time
- if I can inspire my kids I've at least done something
good in life! |

From a
first time runner's point of view, everything seemed to
run extremely smoothly. The Pasta Party was a great idea
and the meal was very good. The ceilidh was very
enjoyable and of course the run was well marshalled and
well supported by the people of Campbeltown. You even
managed to sort the weather out for us. |
|
|

Brilliant
organisation for what must be the most scenic half
marathon in the UK. Don't tell everyone, it will be our
secret |

Must be a
serious contender for The Most Scenic Race of the year.
The beach stretch was breathtaking……. A must do race

Re-write
the book and make it '1001 things to do before you die'.
One of the most fantastically well organised events I
have ever attended with a great community feel…………
Please enter this event in 2007. You will not be
disappointed |

What a
great race. The whole experience for me is one I will
not forget for a long time (well until I do it again
next year). It's not just the race but the whole
experience that makes this a great event. The Mull Of
Kintyre is a beautiful area to visit, and sets the scene
for what the race will be like. |
|
|
|
»
The goody
bag was the best I have had yet, how they managed to put
this all on for the cost is a compliment to the
organisers |
|
|
|
»
The best
bit for me, was the lone piper stood in the dunes at the
end of the beach section. |

To other
Southerners like myself, I can thoroughly recommend
this, and say don’t be put off of where it is. Its well
worth the effort |

One of the
most enjoyable races I have ever done. Fantastic
scenery, a section on the beach, friendly and
encouraging marshals, fab goody bag, great post race
party and an organising team that made sure that
everyone was welcome. It was just the best race and will
live long in my memory |
